Привет всем,
Я прятался немного и решил, что выйду из тени и представлюсь и новая гитара.
I'm a longtime electric player (15 years or so), but until now my only acoustic has been a Taylor Big Baby. I bought it very early on in my playing career, but as I've grown as a player and begun playing more acoustic I realized that it's not the caliber of guitar I want to own. Time for an upgrade.
I pretty quickly gravitated towards OM/OOOs; the size is more inviting to me than a dread. I play both with a pick and fingerstyle, and the OM also works with both styles. As I began my research the new 40-series Larrivees jumped out as a good option in my price range, but I could only get my hands on the dreadnought. After playing a lot of guitars but not finding any OMs in my price range that spoke to me, I decided to place an order for the OM-40 in rosewood.
So far it's been everything I hoped. The new bracing pattern in the 40-series is supposed to be more Martin-esque; while IMO it doesn't quite have the growl of a say a Martin OM-21 or 28, the low end is rich and full and the guitar is very balanced and clear sounding. It has a surprising amount of volume for an OM and you can push it pretty hard with a pick without overdriving the top. I like it more than the Larrivee OMs with the original bracing pattern I played and can only imagine what it will sound like as the woods age and open up.
At the price range, the 40-series is nicely appointed for a USA-made instrument. Build quality is excellent with nice looking woods and very clean binding and inlay work. Nice archtop hardcase too. Needless to say, I'm very happy and this guitar represents a major upgrade over the Taylor.
Some quick pics and now back to playing!
